I'm thoroughly fascinated by the filmmaking process, particularly the role and thought process of writers and directors. This conversation did not disappoint. Listening to what went into the making of some of the best films of 2019 reminded me so much of when I used to work on theatre productions. It also made me realise that in many ways, I'm continuing to do what I did then with this magazine—telling stories, inspiring people, creating something beautiful that makes you think. I listened to this while animating the "You gave me a forever within the numbered days" quote in this issue, and was pleasantly surprised to hear Greta Gerwig (my fave!) speak a little about the limitations of time in filmmaking and in life as I did so. A sweet little moment of serendipity that got me through that long night.
