LIMITS BREED CREATIVITY - by the BRAZEN COMMUNITY

We received some incredible responses to our Limits Breed Creativity experiment, from creators across all disciplines, both amateurs and professionals alike. Here are the results of some of your experiments!

Ratna, AU

Ratna set herself the challenge of coming up with a dessert recipe that used only whole, single ingredients, and no sugar. Lucky for us, she decided to share not just a picture, but the recipe too!

2 apples
A dash of apple cider vinegar
1 cup peanuts, cashews or almonds
2 cups oats
1 tsp sodium bicarbonate
A pinch of cinnamon powder
A pinch of Himalayan pink salt
¼ cup olive oil
¾ cup finely chopped dates
1 tsp vanilla

To make apple butter, skin and core the apples. Put them in a pot with the apple cider vinegar and a splash of water. Simmer for about one hour, until the apples are tender. Blend until smooth. To make nut butter, put the nuts in a food processor and process until smooth. To make oat flour, blitz the oats in a food processor until they resemble coarse flour. Preheat your oven to 180C. Combine the oat flour, sodium bicarbonate, ground cinnamon and Himalayan pink salt in a large bowl. Add the olive oil, chopped dates, vanilla and ½ cup of the apple butter and combine into a thick batter/dough. Stir through ½-¾ cup of homemade nut butter. Shape into little cookie patties and bake in your preheated oven for 14 minutes. Cool before eating.

Christian, AU

Christian is an accomplished young musician from Sydney who regularly shares original compositions on his music Instagram. His first choice out of the many instruments he plays is usually the trumpet, but for this experiment he's challenged himself to compose and perform a piece using only a guitar.

Vandad, IR

Vandad's challenge to himself was to take a series of photographs with his shutter speed set at 10. The result was this series of abstract, dreamy images which feel both familiar and otherworldly.

Siddartha, AU

Here's a fun contribution from the youngest member of the Brazen community yet! Sid is a huge fan of movies and regularly makes films on his iPad, but when it broke recently, he decided to challenge himself to create a stop motion animated film using only his smartphone. We're impressed!

Yasotha, AU

Yasotha's aim with this experiment was to showcase the raw beauty of the world through a series of unedited smartphone photos, proving that beauty exists everywhere if we choose to take a closer look.

Check out the original experiment here. If you decide to try it yourself, let us see it! Share your creativity with us on Instagram using the hashtag #brazenexperiments and tag us @brazen.mag so our community can see what you've created. Here are the results of some of your experiments!
