ORANGE

Orange. An enigmatic hue.

How does orange make you feel?

Oranges remind me of loss and of gains;

A chance to rid myself of old baggage,

A second chance at life.

It reminds me of saccharine sweetness and

acidulous sourness in one bite,

but never knowing when I’ll get either.

The promise of sweetmeat entices me to risk a mouthful of sour,

I peel back the rind, graze my teeth against the plump flesh and take a bite.

My lips curve. The juice engulfs my tongue and I spit it out.
